Recreational women's leagues begin Spring 2016 seasons

[April 25, 2016 - Harmon, Guam] It may have taken some coaxing from co-workers, but Bank of Guam Team Ifit’s Marlene Salas is glad she eventually gave in to play in the first-ever Guam Football Association Women’s Starter League at the GFA National Training Center Sunday.

“I was skeptical at first when my co-workers first asked me to join the team to help fill our roster for the league,” said Salas, Team Ifit’s goalkeeper. “I’m glad though that I decided to try it out. In my first-ever game, it was definitely intense and tiring, but a really good experience. It was exciting playing on defense and stopping the ball, especially the shots from close range.

“I would highly recommend to anyone thinking of playing sports to try out soccer,” the Santa Rita resident added.
