Scholarships

All applicants must be a High School Graduate, College Student or plan on enrolling in College.

All applicants should have a diverse background of academic and personal accomplishments as recorded in grades, extracurricular activities, awards received and interest in the sport of football throughout their life in Guam.

All required documents should be submitted to this Jotform before the published deadline.

Scholarship recipients will be notified of the award and the disbursement details via phone call or email by the Guam Football Association General Secretary.

Verification must include proof of full-time enrollment in a qualified educational institution and confirmation of compliance with any other program-specific requirements.

Scholarship funds will be disbursed directly to the recipient. Funds will not be disbursed until proof of full-time enrollment has been provided.

The amount of scholarship funds disbursed will be based on the terms of the award and the available funding.

If applicant is selected, recipient(s) are highly encouraged to provide a testimonial and Letter/or Video of Appreciation to be shared with respective Donor. This should be submitted after recipient receives Notification of Award.

GFA will provide Letter/or Video of Appreciation to donor and may use testimonials for future GFA Scholarship Program promotional material.

The Guam Football Association in partnership with the family of the late Shirley Lai of the Shirley’s Coffee Shops are proud to announce the Shirley Lai Memorial Scholarship Fund that will award up to four (4) one thousand dollar ($1,000) scholarships  to selected on-island graduating high school seniors and/or current college students to attend the Guam Community College, University of Guam, or an accredited college or university in the United States.

This scholarship opportunity is for football athletes with the intent of furthering their education.

The Guam Football Association in partnership with the family of the late Teddy ‘Ted’ Cipollone are proud to announce the Teddy ‘Ted’ Cipollone Memorial Scholarship Fund that will award up to 4 (four) recipients; two (2) one thousand dollar ($1,000) and two (2) five hundred dollar ($500) scholarships to selected on-island graduating high school seniors and/or current college students to attend the Guam Community College, University of Guam, or an accredited college or university in the United States.

Teddy started playing football (soccer) when he was six years old and continued through adulthood, being one of the first in the Men’s National Team to compete all over the world. He would be proud to be able to give back to the community through this scholarship.

The Guam Football Association in partnership with the family of Grace Martinez are proud to announce the Grace Martinez Memorial Scholarship Fund that will award up to one (1) one thousand dollar ($1,000) scholarship to a selected on-island graduating high school senior and/or current college student to attend the Guam Community College, University of Guam, or an accredited college or university in the United States.

Grace Martinez was the administrator for the Guam Football Association Women’s Committee. In her role, she developed opportunities for women and young girls to play the sport of football. She worked to create additional leagues including the most notable, Mom’s League, and other events that tripled the number of female players on Guam.

The Guam Football Association in partnership with the family of the late Shirley Lai of the Shirley’s Coffee Shops are proud to announce the GFA Grassroots Scholarship Fund that will award up to two (2) five hundred dollar ($500) scholarships to selected on-island graduating high school seniors and/or current college students to attend the Guam Community College or University of Guam.

This scholarship opportunity is for football athletes with the intent of furthering their education.

The Guam Football Association is proud to announce the A4G Scholarship Fund that will award up to two (2) two hundred fifty dollar ($250) scholarships to selected on-island graduating high school seniors and/or current college students to attend the Guam Community College, University of Guam, or an accredited college or university in the United States.

This scholarship opportunity is for current GFA Referees with the intent to further their education.

The Guam Football Association in partnership with the Islanders Futbol Club are proud to announce the Coach Lester Layco Memorial Scholarship Fund that will award up to two (2) five hundred dollar ($500) scholarships to selected on-island graduating high school seniors and/or current college students to attend the Guam Community College, University of Guam, or an accredited college or university in the United States.

Lester Layco Memorial Scholarship is for student athletes that played with the Islanders Fútbol Club in both the youth and adult leagues for at least two years combined.

The Guam Football Association in partnership with the Wings Futbol Club are proud to announce the Ashenafi Lom Foundation Scholarship Fund that will award up to two (2) two hundred fifty dollar ($250) scholarships to selected on-island graduating high school seniors and/or current college students to attend the Guam Community College, University of Guam, or an accredited college or university in the United States.
