Youth soccer Spring 2023 season concludes with Jamboree

[April 9, 2023 – Harmon, Guam] Over 1,000 youth soccer players took part in the season-ending Triple J Auto Group Robbie Webber Youth Soccer League Jamboree Saturday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

In addition to fun small-sided matches for the league’s youngest age groups throughout the day, the U12, U15 Boys and U15 Girls divisions crowned their respective champions.

In the U12 Division, the Southern Cobras Black defeated the Crushers FC 5-3 in the division’s championship match Saturday morning to take home gold medals.

Later in the day, the Guam Shipyard Wolverines Blue defeated the NAPA Rovers FC Gold 1-0 in extra time to repeat for the U15 Boys Championship title.

The Tumon Typhoons FC Maroon U15 Girls team were presented gold medals during the Jamboree event as winners of their age division based on final league standings. Five of the winning team’s players also were called up to the Guam U17 Women’s National Team, which will play in the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers beginning Apr. 22 in Guam.

The Jamboree also featured food and drinks in a potluck style by each participating club in the league, with many clubs also distributing certificates and awards to its players. Victim Advocates Reaching Out (VARO) also was present during the Jamboree with its Penny War fundraiser, to benefit both the non-profit organization and youth soccer clubs. Triple J Auto Group also displayed its newest fleet of vehicles at GFA during the Jamboree.

The local community also was invited to GFA Saturday to take part in opening day of advance ticket sales for the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers Group G.

Advance tickets for all three matches of the Qualifier are on sale for $12 and includes the chance to win autographed Guam National Team gear on the final match day.

Guam’s U17 Women’s National Team will open its bid in the tournament against the Philippines on Apr. 22 and next will play against Lebanon on Apr. 24. The Philippines will next play against Lebanon Apr. 26. All matches will kick off at 7 p.m.
