Youth Enjoy Triple J League Opener Despite Rainy Weather

[September 13, 2015 – Harmon, Guam] – Intermittent rain showers couldn’t stop thousands of youth soccer players from playing in their opening matches of the Triple J Auto Group Robbie Webber Youth Soccer League Fall 2015 at the Guam Football Association National Training Center Saturday.

“I actually liked it when it rained during my game – it was a lot cooler,” said Quality Distributors FC’s Kai Miranda.

Miranda and the Quality Distributors FC U12A team notched a win against the Tigers in the team’s opening match. Miranda, playing in her first-ever soccer league match, scored once in the win and teammates Jett Taitano, Isaiah Masga, and Xander Yano also scored. Miranda decided to join soccer for the first time after watching her mother, Joy, play in the Docomo Pacific GFA Soccer Moms League earlier in the year.

“The best part about my first match was scoring a goal for my team – it’s hard to really explain the feeling,” Miranda said. “I felt excited after scoring the goal and it also made me feel like I could score more.”

In other U12A matches, the Guam Shipyard Wolverines defeated Tsunami Flood 1-0 with a goal off a corner kick by Kaden Slack.
