Wolverines extend U13 elite league standings lead in Week 8

[January 21, 2019 – Harmon, Guam] The Guam Shipyard Wolverines will continue their unbeaten streak into Week 9 matches of the Aloha Maid Minetgot Cup Elite Youth League U13 Division this weekend at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

In Week 8 matches played Jan. 19, the Wolverines propelled past the Wings FC in the second half to win 2-1. Anthony “A.J.” Chaco scored both goals for the Wolverines after the Wings took a 1-0 lead at halftime thanks to a shot by Annie Jones in the 12th minute. With the win, the Wolverines are now 6-0-2 for the season, while the Wings fall to 5-2-1. Despite the loss, the Wings still hold onto second place in league standings moving into Week 9.

Community First/Days Inn Dededo Soccer Club (5-3) holds onto third place in league standings after eight weeks with a 4-0 win over the Bank of Guam Strykers (1-7).

Alesana Jorlang scored twice for Dededo and teammates Meto Harmon and Zaven Piolo also scored.

The ASC Trust Islanders defeated Quality Distributors 9-0 to stay in fourth place moving into Week 9. Brock Larsen, Joshua Benavente, Bryan Nakamine, and Sarah Benavente each scored twice in the win. Adriel Gutierrez scored the Islanders’ other goal. With the win, the Islanders are now 4-3-1, while Quality drops to 2-6 for the season.

The Islanders will next face Dededo Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Saturday will also feature the Wolverines against Quality at 12:30 p.m. followed by the Strykers against Wings at 2:30 p.m.
