Wings Red Sweep Competitive Divisions of Triple J League

[November 21, 2015 – Harmon Guam] – Wings Red swept all competitive divisions of the Triple J Auto Group Robbie Webber Youth Soccer League after both the U17A and U14 teams won their respective divisions on Nov. 14 after U12A and U10A teams earned their titles one week earlier.

In U17A action, No. 2 Wings Red prevailed over No. 4 Southern Cobras 6-0 in the division finals, with two goals from Derek Okuhama and one each from Jordan Jasmin, Xavier Kirksey, Inochi Recella and Daniel Kim. Wings Red had defeated No. 3 Quality Distributors in their semifinal match up and the Cobras took down No. 1 ASC Trust Islanders Betde in the semifinals.

In the U17A consolation match, the Islanders slipped past Quality Distributors 3-2 with two goals from Leon Bamba and one from Noah Duenas. Jason Kim and Matthew Calip scored for Quality.

Though the Wings Red U14 team (6-1-1) received a bye in the final week of the season, the team clinched the division title when the Tigers defeated the Strykers 2-1. The Tigers finished in second place with a 6-0-2 record following the win. Wings Red suffered its only loss of the season in Week 2, a 1-0 loss to an undermanned Tigers team. Seung Min Kim slotted the only goal in that match. Wings Red’s lone draw came a week later, a scoreless draw with the Guam Shipyard Wolverines.

The Strykers, last season’s champions, were the only team with any chance to overtake Wings Red. The Strykers needed a win against the Tigers and to finish with a superior goal differential to repeat as champions; however, with the loss in the final week of play, the Strykers fell to third with a 5-1-2 record.

The Strykers just edged Community First/Days Inn Dededo Soccer Club (5-1-2) in the final division standings with a slightly better goal differential. The Strykers finished with a +21 goal differential compared to Dededo’s +19 goal differential.

The Islanders Betde finished in the fifth-place spot with a 5-0-3, followed by the Wolverines (3-1-4). The Southern Cobras finished next, followed by the Sidekick SC and Islanders Isa, respectively.

Earlier in the season, Wings Red defeated the Guam Shipyard Wolverines in the final of the U12A division playoffs with goals from Nainoa Norton, Andrew Choi, and Andrew Kilgore. The ASC Trust Islanders finished in third following its victory over Wings Black in the consolation match.

The Wings Red U10A team ran away with the division title, finishing undefeated and ahead of the second-place team, ASC Trust Islanders. Wings Red averaged over 13 goals per game in the season and amassed an astonishing +112 goal differential in nine weeks of play.

Community First/Days Inn Dededo Soccer Club White finished next in the standings, followed by the Strykers, rounding out the top four positions.
