
16 Jan Wings Red, Islanders Betde in U17A Spring 2015 Title Hunt
[April 29, 2015 – Harmon, Guam] = The ASC Trust Islanders Betde will make a return to the championship match of the U17A division of the Triple J Auto Group Robbie Webber Youth Soccer League and will face familiar foes in the Wings Red Saturday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.
The Islanders Betde, a team that has gone head-to-head with Wings Red in several U17A finales, missed qualifying for a semifinal berth last season, but has since come back stronger, going undefeated in the regular season. The Islanders Betde defeated Quality Distributors 4-0 in the early semifinal with goals from Devan Mendiola, Aljurrell Grape, Leon Bamba, and a penalty kick by Joerowayne Manalo.
The Wings Red booked its finals ticket with a 2-1 victory over No. 2 Strykers. Ricky Katsumata and Jordan Jasmin scored for Wings Red and Justin Johnson scored the Strykers’ lone goal.
The U17A championship match is scheduled for 11:10 a.m. on United Airlines Field 1, immediately after the third place match, which will kick off at 9:35 a.m. pitting the Strykers and Quality.
The Southern Cobras defeated the Islanders Asut 2-1 to move into the fifth place match against Wings Black, scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday.
In Week 9 matches of the U14 division, Wings Black picked up a 5-1 victory over Islanders Asut, Wings Red blanked the Sidekick SC 6-0, Islanders Betde defeated Community First Dededo Soccer Club 4-1, the Tigers defeated the Cobras 2-0, the Guam Shipyard Wolverines edged the Islanders Apaka 4-3, and the Strykers defeated Tsunami 4-0.
In the U12A division, Wings Red finished in first place in regular season standings with a win over No. 7 Islanders Asut. The Wolverines claimed the second-place spot with a 6-0 win over No 8 Strykers. Dededo rounded out the division’s top three with a win over No. 10 Tsunami. A scoreless draw between Wings Black and Islanders Betde put the teams at fifth and sixth place, respectively. The Crushers finish in sixth place with a 6-0 win over No. 9 Tigers.
The U12A division will move into modified playoff pairings for Week 10.
