UOG, Rovers, IDL Stay Perfect Through Week 11 in Bud Soccer

[January 23, 2018 – Harmon, Guam] The University of Guam Tritons, NAPA Rovers FC, and Islas de los Ladrones (IDL) FC remain as the lone undefeated teams of the Budweiser Soccer League top division through Week 11 matches at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

The Tritons (7-0) continue on top of the league leaderboard after defeating Shipyard Haya 5-3 Sunday evening with a pair of goals from Dylan Naputi and one each from Joseph Quan, Dominic Gadad, and Jacques Diambra-Odi. Rogelio Argueta, Jameil Morris, and David John Cruz scored for Shipyard Haya.

In Saturday’s matches, NAPA Rovers FC (5-0) defeated Familia FC 11-1 with a hat-trick performance by both Min Sung Choi and Matthew Robles and one goal each from Mark Chargualaf, Nathan Sablan, Bryan Cadiz, Ajay Pothen, and Francis Chargualaf. Christopher Reyes scored Familia’s lone goal.

The Islanders FC (5-2) defeated Bank of Guam Strykers B 4-2 with two goals from Devan Mendiola and one each from Jordan Jasmin and Michael Crowley. James Lee and Nathan Schneider scored for Bank of Guam Strykers B.

In Friday’s matches, Islas de los Ladrones (IDL) FC (5-0) produced the week’s sole top division shutout, winning 6-0 against previously undefeated Bank of Guam Strykers I. Ashton Surber and Jonahan Romero each scored twice in the win and teammates Dominic Gadia and Marcus Lopez also scored.

The Andersen Bombers SC (6-2) posted a 7-1 victory over Lots of Art Tattoo Heat led by Diego Cardona’s hat trick. Alberto Cordero, Krystofen Ruiz, Ulises Valdez, and Travis Elswick also scored for the winning team. Riley Jones Taijeron scored LOA Heat’s lone goal.

In Wednesday’s lone match, Quality Distributors (3-2-1) overcame a 2-1 halftime deficit to edge Eurocar FC 3-2 in the league’s first match after the league’s four-week holiday break. Edson Toussaint was Quality’s second-half hero with a pair of goals, adding on to Justin Cruz’s goal in the first half. Takefumi Inoue and Fook Liao scored for Eurocar.

In the top division’s Golden Boot race, Surber stays at the top with 15 goals for the season, followed by last season’s Golden Boot winner Choi with 14 goals. Bank of Guam Strykers I’s Scott Spindel is in third place with 13 goals.

Top division matches continue Wednesday with FC Beercelona taking on Shipyard Haya at 7 p.m. Friday’s matches will feature the Sidekicks SC taking on UOG at 7 p.m. followed by the Bombers SC against Quality Distributors at 9 p.m. IDL FC will play against LOA Heat at 7 p.m. Saturday followed by Bank of Guam Strykers I against Crushers FC at 9 p.m. The NAPA Rovers will play Sunday’s lone match against the Pago Bay Disasters at 7 p.m.

In the league’s Masters Division, the Bank of Guam Strykers Masters blanked the IT&E Boonie Dawgs 6-0 Thursday evening with one goal each from Joel Punzalan, Rod Hidalgo, Kevin Knaeble, Arlan Belmes, Enrique Servatico, and Qin Sheng Wang. In Thursday’s late match, the NAPA Rovers Masters defeated Big Blue 6-0 with a hat trick by the division’s Golden Boot leader Thomas Pacileo and one each from Julio Gonzales, Ian Lawton, and James Campbell.

Hyundai Family FC edged United Masters 3-2 in the lone Masters match Friday evening. Byung Choi scored twice for Family and teammate Chul Park also scored. Tho Doan and Chung Ming Wen scored for United Masters.
