Top Teams to Face Off for Bud Light W2 Spring 2018 Title

[June 5, 2018 – Harmon, Guam] – Two-time runner-up The Venue Slay will have a third go at the W2 Division title of the Bud Light Women’s Soccer League, taking on league debutants The Venue Sidekicks in this season’s final, set for Sunday evening at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

No. 1-ranked and undefeated The Venue Slay defeated the Bank of Guam Strykers W2 4-1 in one of two semifinal fixtures played Jun. 3. W2 Division Golden Boot winner Brianna Benito scored all four goals for The Venue Slay to book her team’s entry into its third-straight championship match. Ana Aguon scored for the Bank of Guam Strykers W2 in the 84th minute to foil a clean sheet for The Venue Slay keeper Tamera Shimizu.

In Sunday’s other semifinal match, No. 2 The Venue Sidekicks defeated the IT&E Lady Bombers 4-0 with goals from Renee Schnabel, Stephanie Bordallo and Steph Zuluaga. The Sidekicks’ other goal came on a Lady Bombers own goal.

The championship match is set for 7 p.m. Sunday at the GFA National Training Center. A short awards ceremony will be held after the match to recognize the top two teams, as well as individual award winners: Golden Boot winner Benito and Golden Glove winner Kara Duenas, both from The Venue Slay.

In the teams’ regular season fixture, The Venue Slay shut out The Venue Sidekicks 3-0 in Week 5 play on May 6.
