Top 3 Budweiser Premier Division Teams Win in Week 17

[March 24, 2019 – Harmon, Guam] Five-time defending champion NAPA Rovers FC earned the lone shutout victory in Saturday evening’s Week 17 matches of the Budweiser Soccer League Premier Division at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

The NAPA Rovers (13-0-3) defeated Guam Shipyard 8-0 to stay on top of the leaderboard with just six matches left in the 2018-2019 season. Guam Shipyard falls to 0-15-1 with the Week 17 loss.

Min Sung Choi contributed a hat trick in the win and teammates Dan Ito and Devan Mendiola scored twice each. Mark Chargualaf scored the Rovers’ other goal.

Choi extends his lead in the league’s Golden Boot race with 27 to his credit, followed by teammate Mendiola with 20 for the season.

In other matches, No. 2 Bank of Guam Strykers FC (11-1-3) defeated the Islanders FC 4-1 with two goals each from Scott Spindel and Ian Mariano. The Islanders’ goal came on a Strykers own goal. The Islanders fall to 5-10-1 with the loss.

Manhoben Lalahi (11-3-2) also earned a win in Week 17, defeating last season’s runner-up, Lots of Art Tattoo Heat, 7-2. Manhoben Lalahi’s Christian Kido led all scorers with two goals and teammates Micah Hennegan, Anthony Moon, Tayler Bonner, and James Lee scored one each. Manhoben Lalahi’s other goal came on a Heat own goal. Seth Surber scored for the Heat (6-7-3), with the team’s other goal from a Manhoben Lalahi own goal.

The other Week 17 fixture – Sidekicks (3-11-2) against Quality Distributors (7-8-1) – has been rescheduled to kick off 7 p.m. Apr. 3.

Week 18 matches are set for Mar. 30 with Sidekicks taking on the Islanders at 6:30 p.m. and Manhoben Lalahi against Bank of Guam Strykers also at 6:30 p.m. Later in the evening, Guam Shipyard will play against Lots of Art Tattoo Heat and Quality Distributors will take on the NAPA Rovers, with both matches kicking off at 8:30 p.m.
