Strykers stay undefeated; on top of 2021 Bud Futsal League standings

[August 16, 2021 – Harmon, Guam] The Bank of Guam Strykers take sole possession of first place in Budweiser Futsal League standings after defeating previous table-toppers Guam Shipyard 10-3 Friday at the Guam Sports Complex gym.

Morgan McKenna led all scorers with seven goals in the one and Marcus Lopez, Aidan Dickson, and Vinicius Rodrigues contributed one goal each. Damien Khoo scored twice for Shipyard and Ahmed Washington scored the team’s other goal.

With Shipyard’s loss, the Strykers are the lone undefeated team in the league.

In other matches, the NAPA Rovers FC defeated Orange Crushers 17-4 Sunday afternoon, led by Brandon Walters’ 10 goals. Miran Berisha finished with a double hat trick and Christian Kido also scored for the winning team. Leeray Zapatos scored twice for the Crushers and Justin Samonte and Dietrich Weathington scored one goal each.

Quality Distributors defeated Team Mosa’s 13-5 with four goals each from Brandon Auayan and Ivan Borja, Jr., and one each from Paul Long, James Bush, Takefumi Inoue, Marvin Redona, and Juan-Carlos Mungaray. Fred Alig III finished with a hat trick for Team Mosa’s and Nolan Sablan and Lance Chargualaf also scored.

In Friday’s other matches, Sidekick SC defeated the IFC Islanders 8-4. Derrick Cruz led all scorers with a hat trick and teammates Jerrick Cruz, Michael Rosario, Sih-Heon Kim, Jeremy Copple and Adam Riveral also scored for the Sidekick SC. Noah Duenas, Josiah Duenas, Marc Pagaduan, and Joshua Pangelinan scored for the Islanders.

Wings FC defeated Haagen Dazs 17-3 led by Scott Spindel’s seven goals and hat tricks by Ross Awa and Caleb Barretto. Phoenix Pahl scored twice and Ralph Awa and Francis Chargualaf each scored once for the winning team. Giovanni Manglona scored twice for Haagen Dazs and David John Cruz scored the team’s other goal.

Men’s futsal continues with one match Friday evening and four matches Sunday afternoon before the continuation of the Bud Light Women’s Futsal League playoffs.
