Strykers, Shipyard II top groups after Week 2 of Bud Light G-League Women

[February 7, 2024 – Harmon, Guam] The Bank of Guam Strykers FC and Guam Shipyard II top Groups A and B, respectively, of the Bud Light G-League Women following Week 2 action at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

In Group A play, the Strykers defeated Tumon Typhoons FC 5-1 led by Sarah Benavente’s hat trick. Alexy Dacanay and Anjelica Perez also scored in the win. Aubrey Ibanez scored Tumon’s goal.

No. 2 Guam Shipyard Women defeated NAPA Rovers FC 3-1 with one goal each from Maya Iriarte, Analea Meno, and Colleen Naden. Annie Jones scored for the Rovers.

Heavy Hitters/Nutrition Mission Heat slipped past Sidekick SC 3-2 with two goals from Cindy Maestrecampo and one from Taylor Camin. Chloe Salas and Makenna Vis scored for Sidekick SC.

In Group B play, Guam Shipyard II defeated NAPA Rovers FC II 4-0 with goals from Lily Concepcion, Aubrey Manibusan, Miomi-Rose Blas, and Jenna Young.

No. 2 Islanders FC defeated Tumon FC UOG 4-2 with two goals from Connica Baza and one each from Kalle Damian and Dolores San Gil. Olivia Leon Guerrero scored both of Tumon FC UOG’s goals.

Following Week 2 matches, Sarah Benavente moves up to the first-place spot in the Golden Boot race tied with Guam Shipyard’s Hinengi San Nicolas at four goals each. Next, Taylor Camin and Connica Baza are tied with three goals each.

The Bud Light G-League Women continues the weekend of Feb. 17 with Islanders FC taking on Bank of Guam Strykers B and NAPA Rovers FC II playing against Tumon FC UOG at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.

In Sunday’s triple header, Guam Shipyard Women take on Tumon Typhoons FC, followed by NAPA Rovers FC against Sidekick SC. Heavy Hitters/Nutrition Mission Heat play the late match against Bank of Guam Strykers. Matches on Sunday begin at 12 noon.
