Southern Heat Take Down Defending Champions in Women’s Soccer

[March 22, 2015 – Harmon, Guam] – The Southern Heat earned its second win of the season after slipping past the defending champions Doosan Lady Crushers 2-1 in a Week 9 match of the Bud Light Women’s Soccer League at the Guam Football Association National Training Center Sunday.

After falling behind 1-0 at halftime, the Heat’s Clarissa Albalos leveled the match with a goal in the 58th minute and teammate Hannah Tyquiengco scored the eventual game winner in the 86th minute. Katie Mills scored for the Lady Crushers.

In other matches, league leaders Lady Rovers settled for the team’s second-straight draw, this time a 3-3 contest with Quality Distributors. The Lady Rovers’ Catherine Kendall completed her hat trick in the 85th minute to force the draw. Paris “Mames” Blas, April Talledo, and Alisia Barcinas scored for Quality in the first half.

Hyundai and the Lady Strykers battled to a 4-4 draw in the early game. The Lady Strykers’ Stephanie Means scored her first goal of the season in the 90th minute to force the draw. Kimberly Sherman, Christina Duenas, and Alexy Dacanay also scored for the Lady Strykers. Olivia Flores scored three for Hyundai and Shana Spindel scored the team’s other goal.
