Soccer Transfer Window to Close Jan. 25 for Adult Leagues

[January 17, 2019 – Harmon, Guam] Players in both the Budweiser Soccer League and Bud Light Women’s Soccer League have a little over a week left before the 2018-2019 transfer window closes at 6 p.m. Jan. 25.

The midseason transfer window applies to both the Premier Division of both leagues, as well as the Amateur Division of both leagues.

“The transfer window gives both players and coaches an opportunity to strengthen their teams in the second part of the 2018-2019 season after the holiday break,” said Sam San Gil, Guam Football Association Competitions Director. “Players in the Budweiser Soccer League are familiar with this transfer window procedure as it was introduced in 2015, and this is the first time it will be implemented for the Bud Light Women’s Soccer League.

“This feature is in line with GFA’s objective to create a more competitively balanced, stable, and sustainable licensed program, as detailed in the GFA Strategic Plan 2017-2020,” San Gil added.

In order to initiate the transfer process, the player must download and fill out the Guam FA League Transfer Request Form (TRF) and have coaches from both the releasing and the receiving teams acknowledge the transfer. There is a one-time $25 transfer fee to GFA in addition to any other fees that clubs may impose. The form and the fee must be submitted to GFA’s main office no later than 6 p.m. Jan. 25.

Clubs must maintain at least 15 players on its official roster of registered players and no transfers will be allowed if the club roster size falls below 15. Players under 18 years old must have their parent or guardian present at GFA to sign the form when completing a transfer request.

The form is online on GFA’s official Web site: http://guamfa.com/all-leagues-mens-regular-rules
