Shipyard Remains Undefeated in Budweiser Men’s Soccer

[December 13, 2016 – Harmon, Guam] – The currently undefeated Guam Shipyard team remains perched atop Budweiser Soccer League Premier Division standings following a 3-2 edge of the Bank of Guam Strykers in a Week 7 match Sunday evening at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

Shipyard’s Camden Aguon powered in the eventual game-winning shot in stoppage time on a goalmouth scramble following a corner kick and his team held on to win in its closest fixture so far this season. In the teams’ previous meeting this season, Shipyard blanked the Strykers 5-0 on Nov. 19.

Kenneth Karosich and Mark Chargualaf also scored for the winning team. Jacques Diambra-Odi scored for the Strykers. The Strykers other goal came on a Shipyard own goal in the 84th minute, which evened the match before Aguon’s shot.

In the other Week 7 Premier Division match, the NAPA Rovers shut out Haya United 7-0 with five goals from Ashton Surber and one each from Jonahan Romero and Jonnathan Archbold on Saturday evening.

The Premier Division takes a holiday break and resumes Jan. 7.

In Division 2, Islanders FC take sole possession of the top spot in division standings with a 7-1 win over Sidekicks FC. Aaron Blas led the Islanders with four goals and teammates Noah Duenas, Brandon Auayan, and Jordan Jasmin also scored. Shaine Munoz scored for the Sidekicks.

Shinko Eurocar notched a 3-1 win over the Crushers FC with goals from Yoshiaki Shinozaki, Junsuke Hosoda, and Jeffry Mindo. Justin Samonte scored for the Crushers.

The Bobcat Rovers defeated the University of Guam Tritons 3-1 with goals from Cameron Lunod, Thomas Medler, and Todd Pangelinan. Jose Babauta scored for UOG.

Division 2 Week 8’s NAPA Rovers D2 and FC Beercelona fixture, as well as the Bank of Guam Strykers D2 and Pago Bay Disasters fixture, will be rescheduled for later dates.

Additional changes to the Division 2 schedule include Friday’s upcoming match between FC Beercelona and Pago Bay Disasters, which will be played in January. The Shinko Eurocar and Sidekicks match, also originally scheduled for Friday, will not be played with Shinko earning a forfeit win, according to a recent announcement by the GFA Men’s Committee.

In Week 9 Masters Division matches, NAPA Rovers Masters stays undefeated with a 10-0 win over United Masters. Michael Tate finished with a double hat trick and teammate Ian Lawton scored three. The team’s other goal came on a United Masters own goal.

Gino’s FC defeated the IT&E Boonie Dawgs 8-2 with four goals from Kiattisak Yolpan and two from Roy Abril. Brothers James and John Oh also scored for Gino’s. Manoucher Sabeti scored both of IT&E’s goals.
