Semifinals Set in Women’s Spring Soccer Season

[April 11, 2016 – Harmon, Guam] – A new champion will be crowned in the Bud Light Women’s Soccer League with 2015 Fall season champions Quality Distributors officially out of the title hunt.

The No. 5-ranked Isla Paint and Roofing Supply Lady Strykers stifled the Quality offense and advanced to the semifinals with a 2-0 victory in the league’s opening round of playoffs at the Guam Football Association National Training Center Sunday.

Yae Kawauchi opened scoring for the Lady Strykers in the first half and teammate Erica Alejandro doubled her team’s advantage with just about five minutes left on the clock.

With the win, the Lady Strykers will play for a ticket to the finals against the No. 1 Personal Finance Center Lady Crushers on Apr. 17 at 5 p.m. In the teams’ most recent fixture on Feb. 21, the Lady Crushers won 6-0.

In other matches, the No. 2 Lady Rovers emerged with a 6-1 win over the No. 7 Islanders in Sunday’s late match. Laura Nadeau finished with a hat trick for the winners and teammate Brianne Leon Guerrero scored twice. Kyung Shipman scored the Lady Rovers’ other goal. Randi Jo Paulino scored the Islanders’ lone goal.

The Lady Rovers advance to the semifinals and will face No. 3 Hyundai on Apr. 17 at 7 p.m. The teams most recently played on Feb. 28, with the Lady Rovers defeating Hyundai 2-0.

Both semifinal matches on Apr. 17 will be played at the GFA National Training Center. There is no admission fee to watch.
