Schedule Change in Budweiser Soccer Premier Division

[December 7, 2016 – Harmon, Guam] – The Guam Football Association Men’s Committee recently issued a change in schedule affecting Saturday’s originally planned fixtures of the Budweiser Soccer League Premier Division.

Haya United and the NAPA Rovers, originally scheduled to play in Saturday’s late match, will now play at 7 p.m. Saturday in the teams’ final fixture before the division’s three-week holiday break. The Haya United-Rovers fixture will be live-streamed on www.sorensenmediagroup.com/reddragon

The other match originally scheduled on Saturday featuring the Bank of Guam Strykers against Guam Shipyard will instead be played at 7 p.m. Sunday at GFA.

Guam Shipyard currently is the league leader with a perfect 4-0 record ahead of No. 2 NAPA Rovers (3-1). The Strykers (2-2) are currently third with a head-to-head competition edge over No. 4 Quality Distributors FC (2-3).

Quality defeated Premier Division newcomers Haya United 8-0 with hat tricks from Jeremy Boldt and Antonio Prieto and one each from Scott Leon Guerrero and Paul Long in the lone Premier Division match played Dec. 3. Quality’s next scheduled match will be at 9 p.m. on Jan. 7 against the Strykers.

In Division II Week 7 action, the Islanders FC take over the No. 1 spot in division standings following its 5-1 win over previously undefeated University of Guam Tritons, combined with a 6-4 loss by the NAPA Rovers D2 to Crushers FC.

In the Islanders-Tritons fixture, Kyle Perez led all scorers with a pair of goals and teammates Jacy Bravo and Aaron Blaz also scored. The Islanders’ other goal came on a UOG own goal. Will Naden scored the Tritons’ lone goal.

In the NAPA Rovers-Crushers fixture, Michael Diamond finished with a hat trick for the winning team and teammates Justin Samonte, Zerek Zimmerman, and Joshua Calvo also scored. Alfredo Villasenor scored twice for the NAPA Rovers and teammates Matthew Larkin and Shawn Spindel also scored.

In other Division II matches, Shinko Eurocar defeated Pago Bay Disasters 6-2 with a pair of goals froms Yoshiaki Shinozaki and one each from Eigo Komatsu, Cyle Tass, Marvin Redona, and Yu Tanabe. Nick Rivera and Ed Malaca scored for Pago Bay.

Lots of Art Tattoo Heat is currently ranked No. 4 following its 6-3 win over Bank of Guam Strykers D2. Keith Surber finished with a hat trick for LOA Heat and teammate Riley Jones Taijeron scored twice. Jason Miller scored the Heat’s other goal. Jeremy Copple scored twice for the Strykers and teammate Christian Cortez also scored.

FC Beercelona picked up its second win of the 2016-2017 season with a 6-1 victory over Bobcat Rovers. Pele Torres, Sho Hammond and Jerran Lizama each scored twice for Beercelona. Thomas Medler scored the Bobcat Rovers’ lone goal.

In Masters Division Week 8 play, Hyundai Family FC continues undefeated with a 7-0 shutout of United Masters. Byung Choi and Yun Kang scored twice and teammates Chul Park, Duk Kyu Park and Keith Yoo also scored. The Bank of Guam Strykers Masters defeated Big Blue 5-2 with four goals from Thomas Pacileo and one from Enrique Servatico. James Campbell scored Big Blue’s goals.

Before the start of the weekend’s matches, competing teams assembled in the pitch’s center circle for a moment of silence for the victims of LaMia Airlines Flight 2933, which included players and staff of Associação Chapecoense de Futebol (ACF) and close to two dozen Brazilian journalists. The Brazilian professional football team was traveling to Colombia for the 2016 Copa Sudamerica Finals against Atletico Nacional of Colombia. Following the fatal plane crash, the Colombian team agreed to concede the final fixture to its Brazilian opponents.
