[June 14, 2016 – Harmon, Guam] – The Rovers Masters and Strykers Masters picked up wins in opening week action of the 2016 Bud Light Co-Ed Masters Soccer League at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

The Rovers Masters, four-time winners of the league before bowing to United Masters last year, started the 2016 season strongly with a 12-0 win over Big Blue Masters Tuesday. The Rovers’ Michael Tate scored five and teammates Peter Houk and Ian Lawton each scored twice in the win. Atsushi Yamamuro, Manoucher Sabeti, and Courtney Salgado scored the Rovers’ other goals.

The Strykers Masters’ Rod Hidalgo scored the eventual game winner off a free kick from just outside the penalty box for his team’s 1-0 victory over the IT&E Boonie Dawgs Friday evening.

After James Okuhama broke the scoreless deadlock with a breakaway in the 56th minute, United Masters’ Takefumi Inoue leveled the match seven minutes later. Facing the goal near the right post, Inoue managed to evade two defenders as he moved with the ball across the goal and found space to take a shot past Family goalkeeper Keith Yoo.
