14 Nov Rovers Edge Payless Supermarkets Strykers for League Title
[April 26, 2015 – Harmon, Guam] – Superior goal differential helped the defending champions Rovers FC take the 2014-2015 Budweiser Soccer League title as the team ended its regular season battling to a 2-2 draw with second-place Payless Supermarkets Strykers FC Sunday evening at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.
Despite not being able to defeat the Strykers in the team’s last two fixtures, the Rovers prevailed on overall goal differential to officially finish on top of league standings above the Strykers FC. Both teams finished the season with 14-2-2 records and tied in points with 44. In head-to-head competition, both teams also finished tied, as the Rovers won the teams’ first encounter 4-2, the Strykers won the teams’ second fixture 7-0, leading up to the 2-2 draw. The Rovers, however, finish the season with a better goal differential – +91 compared to the Strykers’ +65.
League standings are determined by the following:

2. Total Points: head-to-head
3. Goal differential
4. Fewest goals allowed
5. Fewest disciplinary points
6. Playoff (only to determine first place, otherwise tied)
In Sunday’s match, Dylan Naputi and Michael “Jake” Benito scored for the Strykers. David McCallum and Jason Cunliffe scored for the Rovers.
One final Division I match will be played Monday between the Paradise Fitness Sidekicks and Doosan FC.
