06 Feb Registration Online for Fall 2018 Center of Excellence
[August 17, 2018 – Harmon, Guam] – Registration for the Fall 2018 cycle of the United Airlines Guam Football Association Center of Excellence is open online for all youth players born between 2004 and 2009.
Particularly for youth players born in 2008 and 2009, all registered will be matriculated into the program, set to begin Sept. 24 through to Dec. 1. For the upper age groups, open trial sessions will begin Sept. 17, with a maximum of 20 players selected per age group and gender. All registration forms are online on GFA’s official Web site, http://guamfa.com/center-of-excellence-forms
“The Center of Excellence aims to be the gold standard of best practices for player development in Guam,” said Bryan Cadiz, GFA Player Development Officer. “This ultimately means that we are constantly pushing the bar and looking for ways to improve. With this growth mindset, we always set out ambitious goals for the program. By creating a professional environment and instilling the right values, we are certain that we will be successful in producing players who have the necessary tools to succeed both on and off the pitch.
The players within the program have made considerable strides as both athletes and individuals. In fact, it is evident that the entire football community has been continuously improving and moving forward this past year.”
The Center of Excellence, supported by Japan Football Association, is in its second session, officially replacing the former National Academy earlier this year. Head coaches for all age groups are internationally licensed with many working with our youth national teams.
“It is important to acknowledge, however, that the COE is only a piece of the puzzle,” Cadiz said. “The key ingredient for players to achieve their true potential in any sport is Coach Education. The more knowledge our coaches have, the better the environment will be for players to learn. The more knowledgeable our coaches are within our clubs and schools, the more educated our players will become and a better standard of play will develop across Guam.
“GFA has exerted considerable amounts of resources, time, and effort into tying all our player programs/competitions together via our Long-Term Player Development Model. The red line that runs through every program helps the football community achieve its objectives and progress the development of football in Guam,” added Cadiz.
The tentative training schedule for the remainder of the year is based on age groups:
• Boys U9 & U10: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
• Girls U9 & U10: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
