Quality Distributors Clinch Women’s Fall 2015 Title

[November 25, 2015 – Harmon, Guam] – For Bud Light Women’s Soccer League Fall season champions Quality Distributors FC, Sunday will be about finishing the regular season undefeated.

Quality (7-0) clinched the league’s championship title with a 2-0 Week 8 victory over Southern Heat and will have the opportunity to finish out the season undefeated in the team’s season finale against the ISA Islanders at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

Regardless of the result, Quality has the edge in head-to-head points earned against its nearest opponent, the Personal Finance Center Lady Crushers, after slipping past the second-ranked team 5-4 in Week 4 play.

In Quality’s Week 8 match against the Heat, April Talledo and Alisia Barcinas scored in the victory.

The Personal Finance Center Lady Crushers (6-1) will finish in second place regardless of the team’s result in the final week of play against Guam Shipyard, set to kick off at 5 p.m. Sunday. The Lady Crushers most recently defeated Spring-season champions Lady Rovers 4-1 in Week 8 play, with two goals from Simie Willter and one each from Nieves Cabreza and Golden-Boot leader Colleen Naden. Cheri Stewart scored the Lady Rovers lone goal in the loss.

With the loss, the Lady Rovers (6-2) finish the season in third place.

In other Week 8 matches, the ISA Islanders defeated Hyundai 6-4 with two goals from Aubrienne Pangindian and one each from Susan Lupola, Erlissa Delfin, Randi Jo Paulino and Mellanne Rasmussen. Olivia Flores scored twice for Hyundai and teammates Arisa Recella and Ianna Mariano also scored.

The Isla Paint and Roof Supply Lady Strykers won via forfeit against Guam Shipyard.

In the league’s Golden Boot race, Naden leads with 21 goals in seven matches, followed by Talledo with 18 goals in seven matches. Next in line is Recella with seven goals in seven matches.

Sunday’s matches begin with Hyundai against Southern Heat and the Lady Crushers against Shipyard, both kicking off at 5 p.m. The evening’s late match will feature Quality and the ISA Islanders kicking off at 7 p.m. The Fall season will officially conclude Dec. 2 after the Lady Strykers take on Dededo Soccer Club at 7 p.m.

The league’s final standings will determine team rankings for the upcoming Women’s GFA Cup, set to begin Dec. 6.
