PK shootout splits Friars, Islanders for 2017 Boys HS title

[December 17, 2017 – Harmon Guam] The Father Duenas Memorial School Friars captured the 2017 IIAAG Boys High School Soccer League championship in dramatic fashion, outlasting last season’s champions, John F. Kennedy High School Islanders through to a penalty kick shootout Saturday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

Both teams’ best chances at the goal during both regulation time and extra time were foiled by organized defenses, forcing a shootout to determine the winner. FD prevailed 3-2 to take home the champions trophy.

In Saturday’s consolation match between the Harvest Christian Academy Eagles and Southern High School Dolphins, the Eagles won 3-1.

In the Awards Ceremony after the evening’s matches, the Friars were awarded the champions trophy, following a presentation of the 2017 IIAAG Boys High School Soccer League All-Island First Team.
