[April 26, 2023 – Harmon, Guam] The Philippines U17 Women’s National Team will be heading to Round 2 of the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup Indonesia 2024™ Qualifiers following two comprehensive wins over Guam and Lebanon during first-round matches at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

Following the Philippines 3-1 win over Guam Apr. 22, the team took a break on Match Day 2 before defeating Lebanon 2-0 Apr. 26. The Philippines needed the win against Lebanon to advance, as a draw or loss would catapult Lebanon to the top of the group.

In the match against Lebanon, Isabella Alamo scored in the 68th minute to break the match’s deadlock up until that point and teammate Nina Mathelus, the tournament’s top scorer, netted a 90th-minute penalty kick to seal the win.

Mathelus scored a hat trick against Guam to bring her scoring total to four in two matches.

The draw for Round 2 of the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup Indonesia 2024™ Qualifiers will be held May 18 and available for viewing via live stream. AFC will announce the live stream link at a later date.
