PFC Lady Crushers Cap Undefeated Season With SP17 Title

[May 1, 2017 – Harmon, Guam] – The Personal Finance Center Lady Crushers capped its undefeated regular season with the Spring 2017 championship title of the Bud Light Women’s Soccer League Premier Division with a 5-1 win over defending champions NAPA Lady Rovers played Sunday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

The Lady Crushers rallied to a 2-0 lead by halftime with close range goals from April Talledo and Skyylerblu Johnson, but the Lady Rovers continued with their attacking strategy. Early in the second half, Brianne Leon Guerrero put her team within one using her speed to finish a through ball past division Golden Glove winner Demie Rose Brennan.

The celebration was short-lived, as moments later Lady Crushers captain Anjelica Perez managed to break down the Rovers defense for back-to-back goals in less than two minutes after the Lady Rovers goal to extend her team’s lead to 4-1.

A foul in the box by the Lady Rovers set up Maria Abbey Iriarte to finish the Lady Crushers’ final goal in the 5-1 victory as time expired.

In the awards ceremony following the championship match, the Lady Crushers were awarded the champions trophy and the Lady Rovers received the runner-up trophy. The Crushers swept all top awards at the awards ceremony held after the match, with forward Colleen Naden winning the Spring 2017 Golden Boot award as the league’s top goal scorer and teammate Demie Rose Brennan winning the Spring 2017 Golden Glove award as the league’s top goalkeeper.
