PFC Lady Crushers Can Claim Top Rank for Playoffs Early

[March 29, 2017 – Harmon, Guam] – The Personal Finance Center Lady Crushers are in prime position to clinch the top spot for Bud Light Women’s Soccer League Premier Division playoffs early when regular season play resumes Sunday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

The Lady Crushers need at least a draw with Week 9 opponent, Hyundai, to definitively secure the No. 1 position for league playoffs, even with two additional matches left to play in the regular season.

In Week 8 play, the Lady Crushers won the battle of the current top two teams in the league, a 5-3 victory over defending champions, NAPA Lady Rovers. Colleen Naden led all scorers with a hat trick in the win, including a rare Olympic goal – a goal scored directly from a corner kick.

Teammates Skyylerblu Johnson and Caylani Estoy also scored for the Lady Crushers. Brianne Leon Guerrero scored twice and Courtney Salgado once for the Lady Rovers.

In other Week 8 matches, Quality Distributors FC goalkeeper Chyna Ramirez earned a clean sheet with her team’s 3-0 win over Nutrition Mission Heat. Jalana Garcia, Hopemary Calip, and Paige Surber each scored once in the Quality win.

Hyundai picked up a 3-0 win over the Bank of Guam Lady Strykers to hold onto the No. 4 position in league standings. Erica Quichocho scored twice and Aubrienne Pangindian scored Hyundai’s other goal in the win.

Playoffs begin Apr. 23 with only the top four teams advancing to compete for the 2017 Spring title.

The league’s Golden Boot race currently features a three-way tie for the top position – Lady Crushers’ Naden and Anjelica Perez, as well as Quality’s Garcia, have scored 14 goals each through Week 8. Next on the list is a pair of Lady Crushers – Johnson and April Talledo, with 10 and eight goals scored respectively.

In the league’s Golden Glove race, Lady Crushers’ goalkeeper Demie Rose Brennan is in the lead with only an average of 1.57 goals scored against her in 630 minutes played and one clean sheet. Ramirez leads in the number of clean sheets for the season with two.

In the W2 Division, Calvo’s SelectCare/ISC Team Slay have the opportunity to take the top spot in league standings Sunday when they take on the Bank of Guam Strykers W2 at 4:30 p.m. at GFA.

Team Slay (2-0) defeated Team Mosa’s 3-0 in Week 3 play to stay undefeated and trail current leaders FC Familia by one point. In Team Slay’s fixture against Team Mosa’s, Raelene Tajalle, Brianna Benito, and Lili Baranda scored in the win.

FC Familia defeated the University of Guam Tritons 4-1 in the division’s other Week 3 match. Erin Retuyan scored twice for Familia and teammates Anadee Aguigui and Roze San Nicolas also scored. Shaeina Torres scored the Tritons’ loan goal.
