05 Aug Notre Dame Royals capture fourth-straight interscholastic title
[May 19, 2019 – Harmon, Guam] The Notre Dame High School Royals continued their dominance in the IIAAG Girls High School Soccer League after capturing the team’s fourth-straight interscholastic title Saturday evening at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.
IIAAG All Island MVP Brianne Leon Guerrero scored two goals for ND in the team’s 3-2 championship match win over the Academy of Our Lady of Guam Cougars, including the eventual game winner. Lauren Phillips scored ND’s other goal.
Mia San Nicolas scored both goals for Academy, one in each half.
With the championship win, the Royals become only the second team to win both the GFA Girls High School Preseason Challenge Cup and the IIAAG Girls High School Soccer League titles in the same season. The first team to accomplish this feat was the Simon Sanchez High School Sharks in 2015.
After the 2019 championship match, the Royals were presented the Champions Trophy and gold medals. Silver medals and the second-place trophy were presented to the Cougars, and bronze medals and the third-place trophy were presented to the St. John’s School Knights.
Also honored during the presentation ceremony were players selected to the IIAAG All-Island Girls High School Soccer League first team:
