No. 1 Strykers win in return of 2023 Bud Light Women’s Soccer

[August 14, 2023 – Harmon, Guam] In the return of the Bud Light Women’s Soccer League Sunday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center, Premier Division league leaders Bank of Guam Strykers continue with a second win in as many matches following a 6-3 victory over the Islanders FC.

Kimberly Sherman and Sarah Benavente each scored twice for the Strykers and Koharu Minato and Alexy Dacanay each scored once for the winning team. Maya Iriarte scored twice for the Islanders FC and teammate Connica Baza also scored.

In Sunday’s other match, No. 2 Guam Shipyard played to a 3-3 draw with NAPA Rovers FC. Shipyard’s Brianne Leon Guerrero led all scorers with two goals and teammate Arisa Recella scored once. Cassandra Kido, Monica Marquez, and Yae Kawauchi each scored once for the Rovers.

With the results from Week 2 matches, Cassandra Kido, Kimberly Sherman, and Koharu Minato are in a three-way tie for first place in the Golden Boot race with three goals each.
