No. 1 Hyundai to Take on No. 2 Lady Crushers in Futsal Final

[August 11, 2016 – Harmon, Guam] – No. 1 Hyundai will take No. 2 Personal Finance Center Lady Crushers in the championship match of the 2016 Bud Light Women’s Futsal League Sunday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center futsal courts.

Hyundai cruised to a 3-0 lead early in the first 10 minutes of play against Quality, but in the closing minutes of regulation time, the league’s lone undefeated team was fighting to stay in the match and eventually edged Quality 8-6 in extra time.

Hyundai blew a 4-2 halftime lead, as Quality scored a pair of goals 10 minutes into the second half to level the match at 4-all. A goal from Hyundai’s Honoka Recella in the 34th minute gave the lead back to the league leaders, but Quality managed to level the match again with a shot by Jodie Barnhouse.

Alisia Barcinas later gave Quality its first lead of the match with about seven minutes left to play.

Hyundai equalized the contest again with Arisa Recella’s third goal of the night in the 45th minute, eventually sending the match into extra time.

Arisa Recella needed just a minute into extra time to give Hyundai a 7-6 lead, and a few minutes later, teammate Olivia Flores found the back of the net on a goalmouth scramble to put away Quality for good.

Arisa Recella led all scorers with four goals and Flores contributed a hat trick. Recella’s sister, Honoka, scored Hyundai’s other goal. Paige Surber led Quality with a pair of goals and teammates Barnhouse, Barcinas, Paris “Mames” Blas, and April Talledo also scored.

Hyundai will next play defending champions Lady Crushers in the league final, set for 7 p.m. Sunday at GFA. In regular season play, Hyundai handed the Lady Crushers their lone loss, a 5-3 contest in Round 3.

The Lady Crushers cruised to a 6-3 win over Isla Paint and Roofing Supply Lady Strykers. Co-Golden Boot winners Anjelica Perez and Skyylerblu Johnson led the Lady Crushers with three and two goals, respectively. Simie Willter scored the Lady Crushers’ other goal. Koharu Minato scored twice for the Lady Strykers. Jena Cruz scored the Lady Strykers’ other goal.

The Lady Strykers will next play Quality for third place at 6 p.m. Sunday at GFA. In the teams’ regular season fixture, the Lady Strykers edged Quality 3-2 in Round 1 play.
