NAPA Rovers Win Seventh Co-ed Masters Soccer Title

[September 30, 2019 – Harmon, Guam] The NAPA Rovers Masters claimed its seventh championship title in nine seasons of the Bud Light Co-Ed Masters Soccer League after defeating 2018 champions Bank of Guam Strykers Masters 3-1 Sept. 28 at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

The No. 4-ranked team, finishing the regular season with five wins, two losses, and one draw, enjoyed a perfect run in the playoffs, including knocking out a previously undefeated Eurocar FC team in the semifinals.

Christopher Harris, Robert Beckenhauer, and Anjelica Perez scored one each for the winning team. James Okuhama scored the Strykers Masters’ lone goal in the 38th minute.

In the third-place match, Eurocar FC defeated the IT&E Boonie Dawgs 6-2 for a 2019 bronze finish. League Golden Boot winner Yu Tanabe finished the match with a hat trick and teammates Julio Gonzales and Takefumi Inoue scored one each for the winning team. Eurocar’s other goal came on an IT&E Boonie Dawgs own goal. Jong Sung Kim scored both goals for the Boonie Dawgs.

Following the match, the NAPA Rovers FC received the league’s champions trophy and gold medals and the Bank of Guam Strykers Masters accepted the second-place trophy and silver medals. Players from Eurocar FC each received a bronze medal. Also honored during the Awards Ceremony with trophies were Golden Boot winner Yu Tanabe from Eurocar FC and Golden Glove winner Robert Tran, the league’s top goalkeeper, also from Eurocar FC.
