NAPA Rovers play in training match ahead of trip to PI

[June 8, 2017 – Harmon, Guam] Four-time Budweiser Soccer League Premier Division champions NAPA Rovers added a training match against visiting Kyoto Sangyo University of Japan in preparation for the Guam club’s international club friendly in the Philippines against Stallion Laguna FC.

In Tuesday’s training match at Guam Football Association National Training Center, the visiting team, first-time winners of the “Guam Challenge” tournament in Japan, broke down the Rovers defense early on to win 8-0 with two goals from Kuwagaki Chikahiro (26′, 50′) and one each from Mitani Tomoshi (8′), Toyoshima Yoshiki (16′), Fukuyama Sora (31′), Nishikawa Kazuya (37′), Kagawa Yuhi (52′), and Saotome Shogo (78′).

The Rovers will depart Guam Friday evening to the Philippines, where the club’s Premier Division and Division 2 teams will face off against Philippines Football League’s Stallion Laguna FC Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

The Rovers’ traveling roster includes Jason Cunliffe, Marcus Lopez, Ian Mariano, and Jonahan Romero, all of whom previously played professionally in the Philippines. Kick off time for the top-tier teams is 3 p.m. Saturday (Philippines time) at Biñan Football Stadium.
