NAPA Rovers FC capture 2025 Budweiser G League crown in 5-4 win

[October 13, 2025 – Harmon, Guam] The NAPA Rovers FC capped its undefeated season with a 5-4 championship match win over Wings FC to capture the 2025 title of the Budweiser G League Sunday afternoon at the Guam Football Association National Training Center, its first top flight men’s league title since winning six consecutive seasons between 2013 and 2019.

George Martinez was the hat trick hero for the champions and teammates Justin Cruz and Prince Anderson also scored in the win. Berm Betimbena scored twice for Wings FC and teammates Hyun Woo Kim and Noah Duenas also scored.

“I’m just so excited, excited for this team,” Martinez said after the match. “I loved playing with this team the whole season – I loved every match, every training session, all the players on this team, they are so supportive, always trying to bring the best out of each other. I’m so happy we got the win at the end for each other.”

After 70 minutes of play, Wings FC held on to a 4-3 edge over Rovers FC in the seesaw match that saw the lead change three times. In the final minutes of the match, momentum shifted to the Rovers FC, with a Martinez penalty kick in the 89th minute to level the match at four-all. After referee Joshua Bamba signaled for nine minutes of added time, the Rovers sealed the win with a Martinez strike in the 90+7th minute.

“First of all, I give credit to my teammates – it’s my teammates that trusted me to score the last two goals,” Martinez said. “Dev (Bachani) won the penalty late in the game, and he trusted me to take the shot and score, and on the last play, Justin (Cruz) trusted me with that through ball there for the shot to eventually get the win for the team.

“I’m just so happy that my team trusted me to apply my skills and that it worked out for us in the end,” added Martinez, who relocated to Guam in January from Colorado.

The NAPA Rovers FC swept all men’s league awards this year, winning the GFA Men’s Futsal League title in February and the Summer Solstice Men’s Futsal Tournament in June, and also all league individual awards. Justin Cruz won the 2025 Budweiser G League Golden Boot, adding to his Golden Boot title from the 2024-2025 GFA Men’s Futsal League. William Fink won the 2025 Budweiser G League Golden Glove award as the league’s top goalkeeper during the regular season, and fellow goalkeeper Julius “J.R.” Campos won the 2024-2025 GFA Men’s Futsal League Golden Glove award.

In the league’s semifinals, the Rovers won 10-1 over the Bank of Guam Strykers FC for a shot at the title against 2024 champions Wings FC, 3-0 winners over Sidekick SC in the league’s other semifinal match.

In the regular season, the Rovers finished with a league-best 13-0-1 record. Wings FC finished with an 11-2-1 record, with its two regular season losses coming against the Rovers.

In the third place match, Bank of Guam Strykers FC defeated Sidekick SC 4-1 in a penalty shootout after a 3-3 level match in regulation time.

Isiah Lagutang, Andrew Stenson, and Caleb Elwell each scored once for the Bank of Guam Strykers FC in regulation time. Giorden De Vera scored twice for Sidekick SC and teammate Napu Mesa scored the team’s other goal.

In the penalty shootout, Elwell, Stenson, Manfred Preschern, and C.J. Sablan scored for the Strykers FC. Logan Wood scored the lone shootout goal for Sidekick SC.
