Men’s futsal heats up with one week left in regular season

[August 5, 2022 – Harmon, Guam] Only three teams remain undefeated through Week 3 of the Budweiser Men’s Futsal League – Islanders FC, NAPA Rovers FC, and Sidekick SC – with one week of matches remaining before the start of league playoffs.

In the battle of undefeated teams, Islanders FC pulled out a 7-3 win over Quality Distributors Thursday night at the Astumbo gym. Noah Duenas and Mareko Tekopua led all scorers with two goals each and teammates Justin Cruz, Joshua Pangelinan and Nicolas Cabuhat also scored in the win. The Islanders’ other goal came on a Quality own goal. Andrew May, Isaac Koech, and Brandon Auayan each scored once for Quality.

The NAPA Rovers FC stayed perfect with an 8-4 win over Guam Shipyard in Thursday evening’s late match. Yaw Boateng finished with a hat trick for the winning team and teammates Yvan Tcheugoue and Miran Berisha each scored twice. Shaun-Paul Martinez scored the Rovers’ other goal. Damien Khoo scored a hat trick for Guam Shipyard and teammate Jude Bischoff scored the team’s other goal.

In Wednesday night’s match, Guam Shipyard edged Mosa’s 5-4 with two goals each from Jan Flores and Don Weakley. Jude Bischoff scored Shipyard’s other goal. Lance Chargualaf, Keith Surber, and Gideon Tyquiengco scored for Mosa’s. Mosa’s other goal came on a Shipyard own goal.

In Monday night’s matches, a Kristian Cruz goal with 26 seconds left on the clock lifted Sidekick SC over Guam Shipyard in the teams’ 2-1 contest. Samson Sheppard scored the Sidekick SC’s other goal. Don Weakley scored Shipyard’s lone goal.

Quality Distributors picked up a 17-1 win over Orange Crushers Monday evening. Brandon Auayan led all scorers with five goals and teammates Prince Anderson and Bryan Combs scored four and three goals, respectively. Isaac Koech, Juan-Carlos Mungaray, Aleksei Ruchkovskii and Andrew May also scored for Quality. Quality’s other goal came on a Crushers own goal. Keanu Kanemoto scored the Crushers’ lone goal in the contest.

The final week of regular season matches begins Monday at 7 p.m. with Orange Crushers against Mosa’s, followed by Dededo SC Haagen Dazs against Sidekick SC at 8 p.m.
