Matao to begin training camp in Chinese Taipei this week

[March 12, 2016 – Harmon, Guam] Matao coaches and players will converge in Chinese Taipei for a week long training camp ahead of its final match of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia and AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 Joint Preliminary Qualification Round 2 against Oman in Muscat, scheduled for Mar. 24.

While in Chinese Taipei, the Matao will play a FIFA international friendly match against Chinese Taipei’s national team on Mar. 19. Guam is undefeated in its three most recent fixtures with Chinese Taipei, dating back to the semifinal round of the EAFF East Asian Cup in 2012. Guam was forced to a 1-1 draw in that fixture and followed with a 3-0 win in the 2013 AFC Challenge Cup group stage in Myanmar. Guam next defeated Chinese Taipei 2-1 in the semifinal round of the EAFF East Asian Cup in 2014.

In Guam’s home fixture against Oman on Sept. 8, both teams battled to a scoreless draw.
