Mangilao SC Wildcats, Team Metgot Win Christmas Cup

[December 12, 2016 – Harmon, Guam] The Mangilao Soccer Club Wildcats and Team Metgot garnered championship honors in the U14 and U17 divisions, respectively, in the first-ever Guam Football Association Christmas Cup Girls 3v3 Tournament Saturday and Sunday at the GFA National Training Center.

In the U17 division, Team Metgot, made up of youth national team players Brianne Leon Guerrero, Jenna Han, Hannah Cruz, and Abigail San Gil defeated the Mangilao Soccer Club Titans 12-7 for the championship title. Jenna Han led all scorers with four goals and teammates Hannah Cruz and Brianne Leon Guerrero finished with hat tricks. Abigail San Gil scored Metgot’s other two goals. Y’lisiah Jorda, Aurianna “Roben” Morellano, and Kamrie Heflin each scored twice for the Titans. Jackie Cabusi scored the Titans’ other goal. Alyssa Dumlao also played for the Titans.

In the U14 division, the Mangilao Soccer Club Wildcats, made up of youth national team players Vanessa Cruz, Jinae Teria, Minami Rabago, and Mia Taitano defeated the Islanders Neni 8-5 with four goals from Jinae Teria, three from Mia Taitano, and one from Minami Rabago. Jadyn Palomares scored four for the Islanders Neni and Sarah Benavente also scored. Jada Han, Olivia Leon Guerrero, Ashley Larkin, and Kaylee Duenas also played for Islanders Neni.

Thanks to generous support from FIFA and its Live Your Goals program, the GFA Women’s Committee put together the festive, double elimination tournament for four teams in the U14 division and five teams in the U17 division. The other competing teams in the U14 division were Mangilao Soccer Club Pirates and Islanders Chamorrita. The other competing teams in the U17 division were the Islanders Betde, Sharks and Southern Cobras.
