Lady Crushers Secure Top Spot in Futsal Playoffs Early

[July 11, 2017 – Harmon, Guam] – The Personal Finance Center Lady Crushers secured the No. 1 spot for playoffs Sunday following its 6-2 win over the Bank of Guam Lady Strykers with one week left to go in the Bud Light Women’s Futsal League regular season at the Guam Sports Complex gym.

The Lady Crushers (5-0) will play their final regular season match at 2 p.m. Jul. 16 against the University of Guam Tritons (2-3) before resting through two weeks, including a bye week in the first round of playoffs.

In the Lady Crushers’ Week 6 match, Anjelica Perez and Simie Willter led all scorers with two goals each and teammates Demie Rose Brennan and Colleen Naden also scored. Sheena Borja, who had the Lady Strykers’ game-winning strike in Week 5 play against Hyundai, scored once and teammate Francesca Pangelinan also scored.

In other Week 6 matches, Hyundai (4-2) move up to second place in league standings with a 7-4 win over Quality Distributors (3-2). Rhoda Bamba, Erlissa Delfin, and Arisa Recella each scored twice for Hyundai and teammate Tiana Piper also scored. Jalana Garcia, Franshay Shippey, Alisia Barcinas, and Paige Surber scored for Quality.

University of Guam Tritons defeated FC Familia via forfeit.

In Week 5 matches, the Lady Strykers (3-2) edged Hyundai 4-3 with two goals from Alexy Dacanay and one each from Borja and Hannah Cruz. Recella scored twice for Hyundai and Delfin also scored.

Quality Distributors defeated Team Mosa’s 8-1 with a Surber hat trick, two goals from Garcia and one each from Barcinas, Shippey, and Inina Yatar. Team Mosa’s goal came on a Quality own goal.

The Lady Crushers defeated FC Familia 24-1 with eight goals from Skyylerblu Johnson and five from Naden. Perez and Hinako Ito scored four goals each and Willter contributed two in the win. The Crushers’ other goal came on a FC Familia own goal. Glendale Hattig scored for FC Familia.

In the league’s Golden Boot race, the Lady Crushers’ Johnson and Naden are tied at the top with 19 goals each in five matches, followed by Hyundai’s Recella with 14 goals in five matches. The Lady Strykers’ Dacanay and Quality’s Surber are next with 12 goals each.

Regular season play continues Sunday with the Lady Crushers taking on UOG at 2 p.m. followed by Quality Distributors against FC Familia at 3 p.m. The Lady Strykers and Team Mosa’s play the late match kicking off at 4 p.m. All matches are at the Guam Sports Complex gym.
