Lady Crushers, Quality to Play for 2017 Women’s Futsal Title

[August 7, 2017 – Harmon, Guam] – The Personal Finance Center Lady Crushers and Quality Distributors will play for the 2017 Bud Light Women’s Futsal League championship title Sunday at the Guam Sports Complex gym in Harmon.

The No. 1 Lady Crushers had a rough start after coming back from a three-week break, riding a meager 3-2 halftime lead against Hyundai to stay afloat in the first of two semifinal matches played Aug. 6. The defending champions’ second wind kicked in with just 10 minutes left on the clock, with a trio of goals from Skyylerblu Johnson, Colleen Naden, and Anjelica Perez for the final 9-5 score.

Naden led all scorers with a hat trick. Johnson and Perez finished with two each in the win and teammate April Talledo also scored. The Lady Crushers’ other goal came on a Hyundai own goal. Tiana Piper, Levina Terlaje, Honoka Recella, Arisa Recella, and Erlissa Delfin each scored one each for Hyundai.

A slow start in the second half by the Bank of Guam Lady Strykers opened the door for Quality Distributors to take over in the late semifinal match, as the winning team powered in eight goals in the deciding half for a 9-3 win.

Quality’s Paige Surber and Paris “Mames” Blas each scored second-half hat tricks and teammate Jodie Nelson scored two goals. Franshay Shippey scored Quality’s other goal. Alexy Dacanay scored twice for the Lady Strykers and teammate Jinae Teria also scored.

Quality will play the Lady Crushers for the 2017 title Sunday at 4 p.m. after the consolation match between Hyundai and the Lady Strykers, kicking off at 3 p.m.

A short ceremony also will be held at the Guam Sports Complex gym after the championship match to award the league’s top three teams following the final playoff matches, as well as the championship match MVP and the league’s Golden Boot winners, Johnson and Naden.
