Islanders, Wings Renew Rivalry in U13, U15 Elite Soccer Final

[November 5, 2017 – Harmon, Guam] – The ASC Trust Islanders and Wings Red renew their elite soccer rivalry in both the U13 and U15 divisions of the Aloha Maid Minetgot Cup Elite Youth Soccer League, as both clubs won their respective semifinal matches Saturday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

Spring 2017 champions Wings Red return to the U15 Division title match this season after blanking the Tigers 11-0 in the first of two semifinal matches. Mark Iseke led all scorers with hat trick and teammates Tayler Bonner and Eddie Cho netted two each. Taiga Simon, Matthew Iseke and Noah Mueller also contributed to the Wings Red goal haul. The team’s other goal came on a second-half own goal by the Tigers. The division’s Golden Glove winner, Marcus Del Rosario, was credited with the clean sheet for Wings Red.

In the day’s second U15 Division semifinal, the No. 1 ASC Trust Islanders continue its undefeated streak to land in the championship match with an 11-1 win over Community First/Days Inn Dededo Soccer Club.

Dededo managed to score first on a John Halili shot from the left side to the opposite post and the team held on to contain the Islanders’ attackers for almost 20 minutes. Joshua Bamba’s effort for the Islanders in the 24th minute leveled the match at 1-all through to halftime.

Dededo’s defensive wheels began to fall off in the deciding half as the Islanders netted 10 goals in 40 minutes for the final score. Kris Fernandez and Christian Kido both scored hat tricks in the second half and teammates Abigail San Gil, Caiyle Gogue, Javian Cruz, and Sein Dela Cruz also scored.

Wings Red and the Islanders will meet in the U15 Division championship for the second-straight season Nov. 11 beginning at 5 p.m.

In the U13 Division, Spring 2017 champions ASC Trust Islanders are back in the season finale with a 6-0 win over Community First/Days Inn Dededo Soccer Club. The U13 Division Golden Boot winner Nainoa Norton led his team with a hat trick and teammates Riley Rama, Daniel Glasscock, and Cristian Cruz also scored in the win. U13 Division Golden Glove winner Jariah San Gil was credited with the clean sheet for the Islanders.

In the division’s other semifinal match, Wings Red’s Raif Sablan and Rintaro Nishioka each scored a second-half goal to help their team defeat the Guam Shipyard Wolverines 2-0. Wings Red goalkeeper Mason Bonner was credited with the clean sheet.

The Islanders and Wings Red will play for the U13 Division championship Nov. 11 beginning at 3 p.m. in a rematch of last season’s final.

To accommodate both championship matches scheduled in the afternoon, schedules for the Triple J Auto Group Robbie Webber Youth Soccer League have been revised.
