Islanders Finish in 2nd in Budweiser League Debut

[April 19, 2015 – Harmon, Guam] – The Islanders FC finished in a respectable second place in its first-ever foray into the Budweiser Soccer League, finishing just behind the Rovers FC DII in the league’s Division II.

The Islanders (13-3-2), the lone team to defeat division champions Rovers DII this season, escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Strykers DII to end the team’s regular season on a winning note. The Islanders tallied one goal each from Leon Bamba, Derek Okuhama, and Cameron Miles in the win. Nathan Powell and Luke Reeder each scored once for the Strykers DII.

The team combined for 59 goals scored in 18 matches and allowed only 26. The Islanders’ Devan Mendiola led his team with 13 goals scored this season, finishing in third in the Golden Boot race behind winner Jeremy Boldt and runner-up Kyle Legozzie, both from Rovers FC.
