Guam U17 Women’s National Team ready to compete in 2025 AFC tournament

[October 8, 2025 – Harmon, Guam] Head Coach Chyna Ramirez called up 23 players to the Guam U17 Women’s National team final roster for the upcoming AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup™ China PR 2026 Group D Qualifiers, set to be contested beginning Oct. 13 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Called up to the final roster are goalkeepers Ahela’aoku’upu’uwai Kaae, Saya Green, and Kahlan Hancock and field players Elana Basco, Elyse Concepcion, Kiersten Cruz, Maya Echang, Emme Ettleman, Iliana Figueroa, Gabriella Flores, Kylie Guzman, Meria Harmon, Hope Hutapea, Allyana Li, Anaia Malaca, Ha’ani Marquez, Kirida Mendiola, Autumn Naputi, Amaiya Siguenza, Alana Stevens, Isabella Su, Madison Walker, and Hayden Wilson.

“The overall atmosphere within the team is one of excitement, focus, and determination,” Ramirez said. “The players have been training diligently for months, showing exceptional commitment through local league play and national team camps. They are highly motivated and eager to represent Guam at the highest level. Moving into our training camp and our matches against Vietnam and Hong Kong, China, there is a strong sense of unity and confidence among the players. They are ready to embrace the challenge and give their full effort for each other and for the island.”

Guam will open its bid against Vietnam on Monday, Oct. 13 beginning at 4 p.m. local time (7 p.m. Guam time). Guam’s team will finish the qualification round with its match against Hong Kong, China on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 4 p.m. local time (7 p.m. Guam time). All matches will be played at the Binh Duong Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City. Live stream links will be provided by the Vietnam Football Federation closer to match kick off times.

“Our main objectives heading into the AFC tournament include continuing to build the foundation we have established through months of consistent training and competition,” Ramirez said. “We aim to demonstrate the progress our players have made both individually and collectively, while competing with discipline, confidence, and pride. This tournament provides an important opportunity to apply the lessons learned from our preparation, strengthen our team chemistry, and continue elevating the standard of women’s football in Guam.”

Traveling on staff with Ramirez are Assistant Coach Hannah Cruz, Goalkeeper Coach Samuel San Gil, Team Manager Ariya Cruz, Equipment Manager Derrick Cruz, Media Officer Ashley Marques, and Technical Advisor Kimberly Sherman. Joining the team at the training camp and in the AFC tournament are Dr. Mikhaela Razon and physiotherapist Walfred Javier.

The Guam-based players and staff departed early Tuesday morning for a short training camp in the Philippines ahead of the continental tournament’s qualifiers. The team will move directly to Ho Chi Minh City from Manila on Oct. 11. The team also took part in a training camp in the Philippines in July.

Last year, Ramirez selected a handful of the current squad to a U17 Women’s training camp in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, with Guam winning against its Saudi Arabian counterpart 3-1 in the first match and 3-0 in the second match. Later in the year, 13 of the players on the current roster competed in the EAFF U15 Women’s Championship 2024 in Dalian, China PR. The team finished second in Group B with a 3-1 win-loss record.
