Guam U14 Girls Academy Team to compete in Siam Cup Elite in Bangkok

[January 12, 2026 – Harmon, Guam] Following a full year of training and youth league matches, a total of 19 players from the Guam U14 Girls National Academy team will be traveling to Bangkok, Thailand to compete in the U14 Girls Siam Cup Elite Tournament Jan. 16-18.

“The girls have worked incredibly hard, and now is the perfect time for them to believe in themselves and rise to this exciting challenge,” said Ip Yik Wing, Head Coach for the traveling team. “The team’s primary objective is to gain international match experience, giving every player a powerful opportunity to grow and compete with confidence in upcoming tournaments. We are fully committed to guiding and encouraging them as they take the next step toward the National Team, supporting their development both on and off the pitch.”

On the traveling roster are Elleiot Abat, Delyzah Acovera, Riley Aflague, Zala Aquino, Amaiya Baleto, Marina Chargualaf, Arneylyn Delos Santos, Penelope Dobrowolski, Lilah-Reese Finona, Cami Goliat, Leia Halehale, Kalia Koji, Eden Lemapu, Sofiya Quichocho, Matea Sablan, Dillen Sanchez, Julia Sanchez, Ysabella Trecepona, and Ivy Wilson.

The team will compete in two matches per day during the tournament. Guam’s team will open the tournament on Jan. 16 against the Philippines’ Makati FC at 5:30 p.m. Bangkok time (8:30 p.m. Guam time). The team will next play against Thailand’s Chalermprakiet Samut Sakhon at 7:30 p.m. Bangkok time (10:30 p.m. Guam) on the same day.

On Day 2 Saturday, Guam will play against Australia’s AIF at 9 a.m, Bangkok time (12 noon Guam time) and later in the day will take on Hong Kong, China at 4 p.m. Bangkok time (7 p.m. Guam time).

On the final match day, Guam will play against Chonburi Sports School at 10 a.m. Bangkok time (1 p.m. Guam time) and will later play a playoff match with either a 3 p.m. or 4 p.m. kick off time.

“Competing in Thailand offers the players invaluable early exposure to elite-level football, which is crucial for accelerating their development,” Ip said. “The demanding match schedule and high intensity of play will help them learn to manage both physical and psychological challenges with greater resilience. GFA’s National Academy plays an essential role in elite player development, and this trip represents a significant step forward for both the players and the program in their pursuit of excellence.”

Traveling staff with the team with Ip are Assistant Coach Kimberly Sherman and Goalkeeper Coach Ralph Awa. Physiotherapist Jay-Ann Hidalgo will be joining the team in Bangkok.

Following the tournament, tryouts for the 2026 GFA National Academy will held in two-day trials for both the U13 and U15 age groups for both boys and girls squads Jan. 26-29. Trial sessions will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 26 and 28 for the U15 age division and Jan. 27 and 29 for the U13 age division.

Participants must attend at least one tryout date; however, attending both days will strongly encouraged for the best evaluation by program coaches.
