30 Oct Four GFA Executives retain seats for four-year terms following 2025 election
[October 29, 2025 – Tumon, Guam] Four Guam Football Association executives retained their seats for the next four years following an election held during the 2025 GFA Ordinary Congress Tuesday evening at the Hyatt Regency Guam.
The four executives – GFA President Valentino San Gil, GFA Senior Vice President George Lai, GFA Junior Vice President Tina Esteves, and GFA Executive Committee Member Craig Wade – all ran unopposed in the election, observed by visiting VIPs from FIFA, AFC, EAFF, Japan Football Association, Korean Football Association, and the Northern Mariana Islands Football Association.
In addition to the election, GFA Member Clubs in attendance viewed video messages from FIFA President Gianni Infantino, AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, and Japan Football Association President Tsuneyasu Miyamoto, congratulating GFA on its 50th Anniversary. EAFF President and Korean Football Association President Chung Mong Gyu also gave a congratulatory speech and a GFA 50th Anniversary commemorative award from EAFF during the event.
Speaker Frank Blas, Jr. and Senators Tina Muna-Barnes and Shawn Gumataotao also attended the event and presented a Legislative Resolution congratulating GFA on its 50 years of football development and opportunities for the community.
The GFA Electoral Committee also were in attendance to oversee secret ballot voting to determine the fate of GFA Member Club Tigers SC, suspended earlier in the year due to the club’s inability to field the number of teams required by the current GFA Statutes to remain in good standing. A two-thirds majority vote was required by the Member Clubs to suspend Tigers SC. The results submitted were five votes for suspension and six votes against suspension, allowing the club to remain with full membership and obligations.
Also included in the event were presentations by the GFA Finance and Risk Committee, chaired by GFA Vice President George Lai, and the GFA Finance Team, illustrating the 2024 Audited Financial Statements and showcasing the organization’s 2026 Proposed Budget. The Member Clubs present and eligible to vote approved the 2024 Audited Financial Statements. The only Member Club without any official delegates in attendance was the Bank of Guam Strykers FC.
During the Congress, NMIFA President Jerry Tan was invited to the stage to present GFA with a commemorative award, congratulating GFA on its 50th Anniversary. NMIFA also is celebrating a milestone year in 2025 – its 20th Anniversary year.
To conclude the event, GFA Executives presented each GFA Member Club with a commemorative 50th Anniversary pennant.
