Fall 2017 GFA Youth Leagues to Begin as Early as Aug. 19

[July 28, 2017 – Harmon, Guam] – Youth soccer leagues will kick off as early as Aug. 19 as reiterated to participating clubs and teams during a pre-season meeting at the Guam Football Association National Training Center lecture hall Wednesday evening.

The Aloha Maid Minetgot Cup Elite Youth League’s U13 and U15 divisions will begin Aug. 19, while the U18 division will kick off a week later. The Triple J Auto Group Robbie Webber Youth Soccer League’s U6 to U18 divisions will kick off Sept. 9 and run for 10 weeks.

Close to 50 representatives from over a dozen clubs and GFA staff convened to review information about the upcoming season, as well as changes for the 2018 seasons, in a presentation by new Youth Administrator Franshay Shippey.

The changes are in line with GFA’s overall technical and development vision, as presented by technical director Belinda Wilson during the meeting.

Men’s Administrator, Samuel San Gil, also presented information about upcoming club licensing requirements to attendees.

To join any of the GFA youth soccer leagues, players must first register with a participating club or team in their respective age divisions. Once registered with a club or team, players will need to obtain a player ID card at GFA in order to play in league matches. A new player ID card costs $50 if registering for the first time this calendar year.

For players who have already played in the Spring seasons of the leagues earlier this year, player ID cards are still valid unless switching clubs. Valid 2017 cards can be replaced with new information for a fee of $10.
