Doosan Lady Crushers Repeat as Women’s Soccer Champions

Orange is the new gold.

The Doosan Lady Crushers repeated as champions of the Bud Light Women’s Soccer League by finishing with the league’s best record (10-2) for the title. The Lady Crushers completed their season with an 11-2 win over Hyundai in Week 14 play. Andrea Odell and Maria Abbey Iriarte each contributed a hat trick in the win. Skyylerblu Johnson scored twice and teammates Simie Willter, Caylani Estoy and Carla Haddock each scored once. Shana Spindel and Levana Terlaje scored for Hyundai.

Guam Shipyard (8-3-1) finished in third place after a 1-1 draw with the Paintco Lady Strykers, in a match shortened due to a power fluctuation affecting field lights in the final week of the league. Shipyard, needing nothing less than a win to secure a silver finish, relinquished the second-place spot to Quality Distributors (8-2-2). In the Shipyard-Lady Strykers match, Destiny Castro scored for Shipyard in the 12th minute and Christina Duenas scored for the Lady Strykers in the 50th minute.

In the other Week 14 match, the Lady Rovers defeated Pika Soccer Club 2-0 with two goals from Rhoda Bamba in the second half.

Quality Distributors’ Paige Surber won the league’s Golden Boot award, scoring 29 goals in 12 games for the season. Surber scored 11 more goals than teammate Kayla Kinney, who came in second place in the Golden Boot race.
