Dolphins, Royals back in IIAAG Girls HS League finals

[May 19, 2016 – Harmon, Guam] “Who wants it more?” is the theme for the 2016 finals of the IIAAG Girls High School Soccer League, featuring familiar finalists, the Southern High School Dolphins and the Notre Dame Royals following semifinal matches played at the Guam Football Association National Training Center Wednesday.

The Royals were first to the championship match with a 5-1 win over Okkodo High School in the early semifinal match. Destiny Castro scored twice in the win and teammates Elysia Perez, Randi Jo Paulino and Hannah Cruz also scored. Richelle Ragadio scored Okkodo’s lone goal.

Both teams fought to a 1-1 draw at halftime, but the Royals scored four unanswered goals in the deciding half to top Okkodo.

The Dolphins booked its ticket to the finals after upsetting No. 2 George Washington High School Geckos in the late semifinal match. Colleen Naden scored twice for Southern and teammate Alyssandra Cruz scored the eventual game winner on a free kick from the right side. GW’s goals were scored by Callia Concepcion on a Skyylerblu Johnson corner kick and Jalana Garcia.

The championship match between the Dolphins and the Royals will be played at 7 p.m. Saturday, immediately after the consolation match between the Bulldogs and the Geckos.

Admission is $5 per adult and $2 per student for the double header.
