Defending Champs Lady Crushers Drop 2018 Futsal Opener

[June 26, 2018 – Harmon, Guam] – The Bank of Guam Lady Strykers opened its 2018 Bud Light Women’s Futsal League season with a 7-3 win over defending champions Lady Crushers Sunday at the Guam Sports Complex gym in Harmon.

Alexy Dacanay led the Lady Strykers’ attack with a hat trick and teammates Jinae Teria, Ariya Cruz, Abigail San Gil, and Hannah Cruz scored one each in the win. Kaeliana Taitano, Colleen Naden and Kimberly Sherman scored for the Lady Crushers.

In other matches Sunday, last season’s runner-up Quality Distributors started off on the right foot with a 9-3 victory over Heavy Hitters/Nutrition Mission Heat.

Paige Surber led all scorers with a hat trick and teammate Alisia Barcinas scored twice. Jalana Garcia, Jodie Nelson, Franshay Shippey, and Hannah Tyquiengco also scored for Quality. Rhoda Bamba scored twice for Heat and teammate Ha’ani Bettis also scored.

Guam Shipyard defeated The Venue Sidekicks 7-1 with four goals from Shyann Roberto and a hat trick from Arisa Recella. Steph Zuluaga scored the Sidekicks’ lone goal.

The ASC Trust Islanders FC picked up an 8-3 win against Team Mosa’s in the day’s late match. Krystiana Martinez led all scorers with a hat trick and teammates Thea Baker, Aurianna “Roben” Morellano, Rhia Pangindian, Rylee Guzman, and Kayla Tellain also scored. Demi-Rae Shimizu scored twice for Team Mosa’s and Emma Pleadwell scored the team’s other goal in the contest.

The Bud Light Women’s Futsal League continues Sunday with four matches at the Guam Sports Complex Gym.

Guam Shipyard will take on the ASC Trust Islanders FC beginning at 2 p.m. followed by Team Mosa’s playing against Heavy Hitters/Nutrition Mission Heat at 3 p.m. Quality Distributors will face off against the Bank of Guam Lady Strykers at 4 p.m. followed by the Lady Crushers against The Venue Sidekicks at 5 p.m.
