Crushers, Quality to Compete for Women’s Top Division Title

[November 6, 2017 – Harmon, Guam] – The No. 1 Personal Finance Center Lady Crushers will have the opportunity to defend their Bud Light Women’s Soccer League Premier Division (W1) title when they take on No. 3 Quality Distributors in the Fall 2017 Championship match Nov. 12 at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

The Lady Crushers edged No. 4 Bank of Guam Lady Strykers 2-1 in the first of two semifinal matches Sunday. Samantha Fegurgur scored the eventual game winner in the 60th minute following up on teammate Caylani Estoy’s shot parried by Lady Strykers goalkeeper Kalila Kim. Colleen Naden scored the Lady Crushers’ other goal in the 37th minute.

Fall 2017 Golden Boot winner Jinae Teria scored the Lady Strykers’ lone goal in the 83rd minute.

Quality Distributors needed extra time to eliminate No. 2 NAPA Lady Rovers from championship contention 2-1 in a rematch of the Fall 2016 title match. Hopemary Calip scored the eventual game winner in the second half of extra time, getting the final touch on a goalmouth scramble following a corner kick. Jalana Garcia scored Quality’s other goal in the first half to level the match at 1-1 that held through to the end of regulation time. Courtney Salgado scored the Lady Rovers’ lone goal.

The championship match between the Lady Crushers and Quality will kick off at 7 p.m. Nov. 12 at GFA. The Lady Crushers have the advantage for the season, winning 4-1 against Quality in the teams’ opening match.

The championship match will be played after the playoff’s consolation match between the Lady Strykers and the Lady Rovers, set to kick off at 5 p.m. The Lady Rovers have the advantage for the season, edging the Lady Strykers 2-1 in the teams’ fixture during the regular season.

A short awards ceremony will be held after the matches to recognize the league’s champions and runner-up, as well as Teria, the league’s Golden Boot winner, and NAPA Lady Rovers goalkeeper Anisa Topasna, the league’s Golden Glove winner.
