Budweiser G-League showcases 52 goals in Week 2 play

[February 12, 2024 – Harmon, Guam] The Budweiser G-League continued with Week 2 matches at the Guam Football Association National Training Center over the weekend, with 52 goals scored in six matches.

NAPA Rovers FC’s Keyth Ordoñez was the top goal-scorer of the week with eight goals in his team’s 17-0 shutout of the Tumon Typhoons FC. Teammates Justin Cruz, Nathan Sablan, and Miran Berisha each scored twice in the win. Caleb Elwell, Nathaniel Graves, and Michael Castaneda scored the Rovers’ other goals.

In other matches, Tumon FC UOG defeated Strykers FC Beercelona 5-1 with two goals from Nathan Toves and one each from Andrew Stenson, Christian Tapay, and Javian Cruz. Eugene Park scored the lone goal for Strykers FC Beercelona.

The Wings picked up a 13-0 victory over the Crushers FC, led by Yvan Tcheugoue’s four goals. Taiyo Kanekatsu, Curtis “Meto” Harmon, and Beau Perez scored twice each and teammates Noah Duenas and Emmanuel Bryan also scored in the win. The Wings’ other goal came on a Crushers FC own goal.

Sidekick SC defeated the Islanders FC 4-1. Derrick Cruz, Logan Wood, Kohen Diego, and Kristian Cruz each scored once in the win. Jherico Tiamzon scored the Islanders’ lone goal.

Guam Shipyard defeated the Tulip Southern Cobras 6-3 with a hat trick from Jadyel Rink and two from Jude Bischoff. Masato Rabago scored Shipyard’s other goal. Jan Flores, Seth Surber, and Russell Perez scored for the Cobras.

Tiger FC and Southern Heat Omega battled to a 1-1 draw. Gabriel Dixon scored for Tiger FC and Sein Dela Cruz scored for Southern Heat Omega.

Budweiser G-League matches continue the weekend of Feb. 24.

NAPA Rovers FC will play against Quality Distributors at 12 noon, followed by Southern Heat Omega against Tumon Typhoons FC. Strykers FC Beercelona and Dededo Soccer Club will play at the 4 p.m. time slot.

In Sunday’s triple header, Islanders FC will take on Tumon FC UOG at 12 noon, followed by Crushers FC against Bank of Guam Strykers FC. Guam Shipyard and Wings FC will play in the final match of the weekend beginning at 4 p.m.
