BOG Strykers Weaken Napa Rovers Bid for Four-Peat

[March 27, 2017 – Harmon, Guam] – Bank of Guam Strykers weakened NAPA Rovers FC’s bid for a four-peat in the Budweiser Soccer League Premier Division with a 6-2 win Saturday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center in the latest division standings released by the GFA Men’s Committee.

The Rovers (10-3) came into the match at the No. 2 position in league standings and needed a win to regain the frontrunner position over Guam Shipyard (11-2) based on head-to-head competition, with just three weeks left to play.

The Strykers had different plans for the three-time defending champions, powering to a 3-0 lead at halftime and continuing with high intensity to close out the match. Sixteen-year-old Clayton Mitchell led all scorers with a hat trick and teammates Scott Spindel, Aidan Dickson, and Alan Thomas also scored. Ashton Surber and Jan Flores scored for the Rovers.

In the evening’s earlier match, Quality Distributors managed to advance past Haya United 6-3. Yaw Antwi-Agyei “Nana” and Antonio Prieto each scored hat tricks for Quality in the win. David John Cruz, Giancarlo Abril, and Sydney Talledo scored one each for Haya United.

In Week 20 Division 2 action, the University of Guam Tritons edged the Islanders FC 3-2 with goals from Jordan Rosario, Jacques Diambra-Odi, and Dylan Naputi. Jordan Jasmin scored both goals for the Islanders.

The Bobcat Rovers defeated FC Beercelona 11-1 with hat tricks by Joseph Kim and Matt Robles and two from David McCallum. The Bobcat Rovers’ other goals were from Arnold Torres, Jr., Cameron Lunod, and a Beercelona own goal. Randy Mendiola scored for Beercelona.

Bank of Guam Strykers D2 defeated Lots of Art Tattoo Heat 6-3 with a hat trick by Angelo Cortez and one each from Micah Hennegan and Seung Min Kim. The Strykers D2’s other goal came on a Heat own goal. Keith Surber scored twice and Riley Jones Taijeron once for the Heat.

Shinko Eurocar defeated Pago Bay Disasters 11-1 with four goals from Eigo Komatsu and two from Kaito Inoue. Tyler Presto, Cyle Tass, Yu Tanabe, Sho Meyar, and Allan Kim also scored. Ratu Uluiviti scored for Pago Bay.

NAPA Rovers D2 defeated Crushers FC 5-2 with two goals from Kyle Legozzie and one each from Sora Recella, Emmanuel Camacho, and Vincent Magriplis. Michael Diamond and Vincent Espinal scored for the Crushers.

In Week 22 Masters Division games, Big Blue and IT&E Boonie Dawgs battled to a 3-3 draw. Noel Casilao scored twice and Pepito Bedia, Jr. once for Big Blue. Russ Buckwalter scored all three IT&E goals.

Gino’s blanked United Masters 7-0 with a hat trick from Kiattisak Yolpan, two from John Oh, and once each from Roy Abril and Richard Quiambao.

Budweiser Soccer League action continues Tuesday evening with Division 2 matches. Premier Division matches continue Saturday.
