
17 Mar BOG Strykers, Guam Shipyard to play for 2025 Bud Light G League Women crown
[March 17, 2025 – Harmon, Guam] A new champion will be crowned Sunday following the championship match of the Bud Light G League Women at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.
Last season’s runner-up Bank of Guam Strykers FC will take on Guam Shipyard beginning at 3:30 p.m. Last season’s champions, NAPA Rovers FC, finished the season in fourth place behind Heavy Hitters Southern Heat.
Following the championship match, the winning team will be presented the Champions trophy and gold medals. The second-place team will be presented silver medals and the third-place team will be presented bronze medals. Individual awards from the regular season will also be presented. Heavy Hitters Southern Heat’s Taylor Camin earned the 2024-2025 season Golden Boot Award, leading the league in goals scored at 16. Guam Shipyard’s Chyna Ramirez earned the 2024-2025 season Golden Glove Award as the league’s top goalkeeper.
No. 1 Bank of Guam Strykers FC have the advantage on paper over No. 2 Guam Shipyard, winning once and settling for a draw during the regular season. In Week 1, the Strykers defeated Guam Shipyard 9-0 and later in Week 8, the two teams battled to a 2-2 draw.
Between the two teams, 29 players listed on team rosters updated by Mar. 16 have been part of Guam’s National Program, either with youth teams, or up to the Masakåda, Guam Women’s National Team. The Strykers boast the highest number of players at 18: Sarah Benavente, Elisha Benavente-Meneses, Ashley Besagar, Ariya Cruz, Alexy Dacanay, Giselle Dahilig, Aiyanna Duenas, Feah Fejeran, Yasmeen Lopez, Kaia Malakooti, Analea Meno, Caden Milner, Koharu Minato, Ryley Munoz, Richelle Ragadio, Orung Santos, Kimberly Sherman, and Hayden Thompson.
Guam Shipyard features 11 current and former National Program players on its roster: Hannah Charfauros, Hannah Cruz, Olivia Elliott, Maya Iriarte, Colleen Naden, Randi Jo Paulino, Chyna Ramirez, Samantha Ramirez, Hinengi San Nicolas, Demi-Rae Shimizu, and Moana Taijeron.
The Championship match of the Bud Light G League Women is one of four major events in the month of March held in celebration of AFC Women’s Football Day. The first, the 16th Annual Sugar and Spice Girls Middle School Festival supported by Japan Football Association, was held Mar. 9, with St. John’s School emerging as three-time champions of the festival. The second, the 11th Annual Challenge Cup Girls High School Preseason Tournament supported by Japan Football Association, was held Mar. 16 with the John F. Kennedy High School Islanders winning the title for the second year in a row.
Following Sunday’s Bud Light G League Women championship match, the fourth and final celebratory event this month will be the 2nd Annual Tokyo Friendlies on Mar. 29, which will feature a visiting U16 Girls team from Tokyo Football Association in a tournament against the seven teams in the Triple J Auto Group Robbie Webber Youth League U17 Girls Division: ASC Trust Islanders FC, Bank of Guam Strykers FC, Dededo SC, Guam Shipyard Wolverines, NAPA Rovers FC, Southern Cobras SC, and Tumon Typhoons FC.
Prior to the Tokyo Friendlies tournament, the Guam U17 Women’s National Team and the Guam Women’s/U20 Women’s National Team will play friendly matches against the visiting Tokyo FA team Thursday and Friday, respectively. Both weekday matches will kick off at 5 p.m.
