BOG B, IDL FC Pick Up Wins in Week 3 of Men’s Soccer

[September 30, 2017 – Harmon, Guam] – An early Eurocar FC goal wasn’t enough to stop IDL FC from picking up a win in Week 3 of the Budweiser Soccer League Friday evening at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

IDL FC, made up mostly of players from last season’s Premier Division champions NAPA Rovers FC, pounded in eight goals – five from Marcus Lopez – after a 6th minute goal from Eurocar’s Fook Liao to win 8-1 in the team’s first match of the 2017-2018 season. Jonahan Romero scored twice for IDL FC and Ian Mariano scored the team’s other goal.

Eurocar entered the match with a 2-0 record from the first two weeks of play and a +10 goal differential. With the lopsided loss, Eurocar slips down to the No. 3 position in league standings behind Familia FC.

In Friday evening’s early match, Bank of Guam B defeated Pago Bay Disasters 7-0. Micah Hennegan, returning from U16 National Team duty earlier in the week, scored four goals for BOG B and teammates John Anthony Cruz, James Lee, and Seung Min Kim also scored in the win.

Budweiser Soccer League play continues over the weekend before taking a weeklong break as GFA prepares for the 2017 Marianas Cup. The 2017 Marianas Cup, set to be played Oct. 8, will feature Guam’s U18 All-Stars playing against Northern Mariana Islands U18 National Team at 4 p.m., followed by the Masakåda, Guam Women’s National Team, taking on the NMI Women’s National Team at 7 p.m.

Both matches will be played at GFA. There is no entrance fee to watch the matches.
